Newborn Care Specialist Job Requirements
With Little Whole Me, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Newborn Care Specialist to provide expert care and support to families during their newborn's early days. If you are passionate about supporting families through the joys and challenges of newborn care, we invite you to apply!
Required Qualifications:
Certification:
Certification as a Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) through a recognized organization is preferred. However, if you are not yet certified, we are willing to train and offer a mentorship program to help you complete certification and training requirements.
Experience:
A minimum of 1-3 years of professional experience in newborn care or childcare is preferred. Candidates with less experience may still be considered if they are eager to learn and participate in a mentorship program.
Training:
Completion of formal newborn care training is ideal, including knowledge of sleep training, infant feeding, and safety protocols. If not already trained, we will provide mentorship to ensure you gain the necessary skills and certifications.
Knowledge:
Strong understanding of newborn care, including sleep patterns, feeding (breastfeeding, formula, and bottle-feeding), diapering, and developmental milestones.
Ability to respond to common newborn health concerns, such as reflux, colic, and jaundice.
Skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with parents and families.
Ability to provide clear guidance and actionable advice on newborn care and household routines.
Personal Traits:
Compassionate, patient, and nurturing with a strong commitment to family-centered care.
Ability to work independently and adapt to the unique needs of each family.
Background Check:
Must pass a thorough background check, including criminal, child abuse, and driving history.
References:
Professional references from previous employers or families served, highlighting experience with newborn care.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional certifications in lactation support, sleep coaching, or other areas of postpartum care.
Experience with high-risk newborns or in neonatal care settings.
